Noah Johnson, age 81, of Cross Plains, went to be with his family in heaven on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Hendricks Hospital in Abilene. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cross Plains with Ronnie B. White officiating; burial will follow in the Dressy Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22nd at Higginbotham Funeral Home.

He was born on December 11, 1927 to Flem and Hester (Thorn) Johnson. He was raised in the Dressy Community of Cross Plains with his two sisters, Helen and Dorothy. Noah graduated from Cross Plains High School; was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy; and completed Barber College in Ft. Worth. He married Bobbie Wright on October 2, 1950. Noah was a rancher and the local barber in Cross Plains for many years. He and his wife, Bobbie, owned and operated Johnson?s Dry Goods together for 40 years. Noah was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the local Masonic Lodge for 50 years. Noah was a past Master of the Cross Plains Lodge.

Noah was a loving husband and great Daddy and Granddad. He loved the outdoors and being with his family. He also loved all of the people that came into his store in Cross Plains. He will be missed.

Noah was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Julia Faye; and his two sisters, Helen Walker and Dorothy Edington.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Johnson of Cross Plains; his daughter, Dianne and husband Emmanuel Alvertos of Cross Plains; son, Bruce Johnson of Early. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Brice Hail of Abilene; Alisa Hail of Abilene; Lori Willcockson and husband, Brian, of Abilene; two great grandchildren, Trevor Noah Hail and Gavin Brice Hail of Abilene.
